Shortly after winning an Academy Award for his role in “Dallas Buyers Club,” Matthew McConaughey confirmed what had previously been hinted—he won’t return for a second season of HBO’s “True Detective.” In his post-Oscars interview the actor said that the first season of the anthology series is finite and that he won’t be back for season two. Show creator Nic Pizzolatto has previously hinted on Twitter that the second season could feature female lead characters.

Scripps Networks Interactive has promoted David Arroyo to senior vice president of legal affairs and internal audit, working out of the company’s New York office. Arroyo has been with the company since 2004, and before that he worked as a trial lawyer.

HGTV has made a pair of personnel moves, hiring Adam Fleischhacker as director of original programming and promoting Lindsey Weidhorn to the same position. Fleischhacker previously produced a number of shows at Food Network and Discovery Channel, while Weidhorn has worked in the network’s programming department for eight years.

AMC/Sundance Channel Global has made two promotions, naming Gail Gendler vice president of acquisitions and Patrick Connolly vice president of programming and scheduling. Both report to executive vice president of programming and operations Harold Gronenthal.

Turner International Broadcasting System has named Kerstin von der Brelie vice president of human resources, in charge of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific regions. Von der Brelie was most recently chief talent officer for Europe and Millward Brown.

Actress Tara Holt has joined Showtime’s “Californication” for its upcoming seventh and final season, in a recurring role as an executive assistant. Holt’s most recent TV appearances were on “Ray Donovan” and “Sullivan & Son.”

MEC has made a number of moves in its UK office, including promoting Stuart Bowden and Jason Dormieux to joint chief executive officer. Bowden had been managing director, while Dormieux was chief operating officer. The agency has also made two other promotions, naming Sarah Hennessy managing director and Paul Hutchison deputy managing director.

Clear Channel Media and Entertainment has re-signed senior vice president of urban programming Doc Wynter, and under the new deal he will expand his role to work with the company’s talent development team. Wynter has been with Clear Channel since 1988.

The Alliance for Audited Media has named Tom Drouillard managing director, president and chief operating officer, taking over for retiring president Mike Lavery on April 1. Drouillard was most recently chief executive at Scarborough Research.

Online video site Hulu has brought in Tim Connolly, naming him head of distribution. Connolly joins from The Walt Disney Co., where he was vice president of digital video distribution and new product development.

Cheryl Gould, a senior vice president at NBC News and the first female executive producer of “NBC Nightly News,” is leaving after 37 years with the network. In a memo Gould wrote, “I’m old enough to have had a wonderful career, and young enough to be excited about plotting a new course.”

While the limited-run series “Hostages” didn’t produce the ratings the network would have liked, CBS is sticking with actor Dylan McDermott. He has joined the cast of an untitled CBS drama pilot described as a police thriller, from “The Following” creator Kevin Williamson. Before “Hostages” McDermott appeared on “American Horror Story.”

Fox has added Harold Reynolds and Tom Verducci to its lead announcing team for this year’s Major League Baseball season, working alongside longtime play-by-play man Joe Buck. Ken Rosenthal and Erin Andrews will work as reporters with the lead team, while other play-by-play announcers include Kenny Albert and Thom Brennaman. Kevin Burkhardt will serve as host of the “MLB on Fox” studio show, with a rotating panel of analysts including former players Frank Thomas, Eric Karros, Gabe Kapler and C.J. Nitkowski.
