With NBC’s programs in reruns, CBS’s “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” pulled out another first-place finish
“Late Show” averaged 3.28 million total viewers during the week ended March 12, according to Nielsen, No. 1 for the sixth straight week. It was the show’s largest weekly audience since its premiere week in September 2015.
The six straight wins is CBS’s longest late-night win streak since the 2009-10 season. During the stretch Colbert has averaged 3.43 million total viewers, up 23 percent from 2.78 million during the same period a year ago.
NBC’s “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” was in reruns but still finished second for the week with 2.47 million total viewers. ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” was third with 2.28 million viewers.
‘Tonight’ wins the week in 18-49s
“Tonight” did take the week among viewers 18-49, averaging a 0.62 rating in the demo. “Late Show” was second at 0.55 and “Kimmel” third at 0.49.
‘Late Late Show’ leads late-late night
In late-late night, CBS’s “Late Late Show with James Corden” averaged 1.44 million total viewers. That was up 16 percent from the same week last year and its largest audience since May 2015.
ABC’s “Nightline” was second with 1.439 million total viewers, with NBC’s “Late Night” at 1.34 million and “Last Call with Carson Daly” at 757,000.
Among viewers 18-49, “Late Late Show” averaged a 0.35 rating, with “Late Night” and “Nightline” each at a 0.34. “Last Call” averaged a 0.21 rating in the demo.
All of NBC’s shows and Friday’s “Kimmel” and “Late Late Show” were reruns.
