Yet another woman lobs accusations at Ailes
July 30, 2016
Gretchen Carlson’s sexual harassment lawsuit against Roger Ailes really opened the floodgates.
More than a week after the former Fox News Channel CEO stepped down, women continue to come forward with allegations against him.
The latest is Laurie Luhn, a woman who spent more than a decade working at Fox News Channel as a booker and event planner.
She spoke with Carlson’s lawyers shortly after Ailes resigned and then went public with an interview published Friday in New York magazine.
She claims Ailes harassed her and demanded sexual favors in return for positions and promotions at Fox News.
Luhn’s big settlement
Luhn is an admittedly troubled woman. She suffered several breakdowns that she attributes to the stress of Ailes’ demands, which she claims included dancing for him, going to his hotel room whenever she was summoned, and finding other young woman for him, who she knew could be subject to harassment.
“Whether I am a crazy person or not, I am reporting sexual harassment,” Luhn told Gabriel Sherman, who wrote a book about Ailes a couple years ago and has reported on a number of women who have come forward with allegations.
Luhn left Fox News in 2011, after negotiating a $3.15 million settlement. She had a non-disclosure agreement, which she apparently has violated by speaking with Sherman. But as Luhn told him, “The truth shall set you free. Nothing else matters.”
