‘Walking Dead’ kills among Hispanic viewers

AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead‘ was easily the week’s top cable program among Latino viewers.AMC’s “The Walking Dead” is one of TV’s biggest hits on either broadcast or cable, and that holds true among Hispanic viewers as well.
The zombie drama averaged 1.89 million total Hispanic viewers on Sunday, according to Nielsen, making it the top cable program of the week ended March 20 among Latinos, regardless of language.
In fact, it wasn’t even close. The No. 2 English-language cable program of the week among Hispanic viewers was its “Talking Dead” post-show, which averaged 645,000 Latino viewers.
And the most-watched telecast of the week on Spanish-language cable was a CONCACAF Champions League soccer match on Univision Deportes Network, which averaged 665,000 total Hispanic viewers.
Even more impressive, “The Walking Dead’s” Hispanic audience rivals that of top Spanish-language shows on broadcast networks such as Univision.
Overall, “Walking Dead” was the No. 7 telecast of the week ended March 20 among Hispanic viewers on either broadcast or cable, behind six Univision programs-four episodes of the telenovela “Pasión y Poder,” and the Sunday night shows “Nuestra Belleza Latina” and “Sal y Pimienta.”
Also, the AMC drama averaged more viewers than Univision’s novelas “El Hotel de los Secretos” and “Sueño de Amor,” as well as everything that aired on Telemundo last week.
