Best bet on broadcast: NBC, “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” 11:35 p.m. Tyler Perry and Abigail Spencer guest, and Van Morrison performs.
Best bet on cable: Disney Channel, “The Swap,” 8 p.m. New original movie with the body-swap premise, this time involving a rhythmic gymnast and a hockey player.
Top sporting event: Fox Sports 1, “Major League Baseball,” 9 p.m. The Cubs open their postseason with game one of the NLDS versus the Giants.
SATURDAY
Best bet on broadcast: NBC, “NASCAR Racing,” 7 p.m. Just 12 drivers remain alive in the Chase for the Sprint Cup for the Bank of America 500 from Charlotte.
Best bet on cable: BBC America, “The Graham Norton Show,” 10 p.m. Season premiere. Season 20 kicks off with guests Justin Timberlake, Anna Kendrick, Daniel Radcliffe and Robbie Williams.
Top sporting event: ESPN, “College Football,” 7 p.m. No. 1 Alabama visits No. 16 Arkansas in an SEC battle.
SUNDAY
Best bet on broadcast: ABC, CBS, Fox, PBS, “Presidential Debate,” 9 p.m. It’s round two of Trump versus Clinton with moderators Anderson Cooper and Martha Raddatz. The cable news networks will also carry the debate.
Best bet on cable: Hallmark Channel, “Chesapeake Shores,” 9 p.m. Series finale. Abby’s relationship with Trace progresses, and later Trace is in trouble following an emergency phone call.
Top sporting event: NBC, “Sunday Night Football,” 8:20 p.m. The Giants take on the Packers in Green Bay, although the audience will undoubtedly suffer due to the debate.
