The year’s top Google search: Lamar Odom
December 21, 2015
Former NBA player Lamar Odom was more popular on Google this year than he ever was during his playing career.
The estranged husband of reality star Khloe Kardashian, Odom was the most frequent Google search in the U.S. in 2015, after a Las Vegas drug binge that led to a number of strokes and nearly cost him his life.
The movie “Jurassic World” was the year’s No. 2 Google search in the U.S., followed by “American Sniper,” Caitlyn Jenner and MMA fighter Ronda Rousey.
Interestingly, three of the year’s five most-searched-for athletes were women.
Rousey was No. 1, followed by Holly Holm, who handed Rousey the first loss of her career. NBA star Stephen Curry was No. 3, boxer Manny Pacquiao No. 4, and U.S. women’s national soccer team player Alex Morgan No. 5.
Google lists the top searches across a wide variety of categories, and one interesting one is the “How to…?” category, which featured something new and something old at the top.
At No. 1 was “How to use the new Snapchat update,” as social media users scrambled to figure out the platform’s new features. No. 2? “How to solve a rubix [sic] cube.”
