Solid numbers for ‘Superstore’ preview
Sneak peek at new NBC comedy averages a 2.2 in first episode
December 1, 2015
Airing behind “The Voice” is a great place to get sampling, and so it proved for “Superstore,” which aired a sneak preview behind the hit reality show Monday night, with good results.
The 10 p.m. episode of the new comedy averaged a 2.2 adults 18-49 rating, according to Nielsen overnights, finishing as the night’s No. 2 show in the demo.
Another episode at 10:30 p.m. had good retention, averaging a 1.9, meaning a lot of viewers liked what they saw. “Superstore” took first in both half hours.
“Voice” was the night’s top show, as usual, with a 2.9 in the demo. (Note, NBC’s lineup was preempted for football in Baltimore and Cleveland, which may have slightly inflated ratings.)
On ABC, a 50th birthday celebration for “Charlie Brown Christmas” drew solid numbers at 8 p.m., averaging a 1.9. That led into the actual presentation of “Brown” at 9 p.m. with a 2.0, down a tenth from last year.
CBS’s only original of the night, “Supergirl,” averaged a 1.6, up a tenth from last week. That tied Fox’s “Gotham” in the hour.
Fox’s other drama, “Minority Report,” aired its season (and likely series) finale at 9 p.m., posting a 0.7, up 0.2 from its series low last week.
