Cable overnights: Presidential forum soars on MSNBC
September 9, 2016
It’s not often that MSNBC has the top show among the Big Three cable news networks, much less the top show on cable, but it happened Wednesday night.
The “Commander-in-Chief Forum,” which was simulcast on NBC as well, drew 3.43 million total viewers on cable, according to Nielsen overnights.
That included 856,000 in the key adults 25-54 demo.
The forum featured Matt Lauer individually interviewing each presidential candidate.
Fox News Channel’s “The Kelly File” wasn’t too far behind in total viewers with 3.2 million. In fact, FNC had five of the top eight shows of the night in total viewers.
Elsewhere on cable
Discovery’s third and final edition of “Harley and the Davidsons” posted a 0.9 adults 18-49 rating, the top show of the night in the demo. That was equal to Tuesday night.
Lifetime’s “Little Women: LA” drew a series-high 1.6 million total viewers, including a season-high 806,000 25-54s.
The second night of Oprah Winfrey Network’s “Queen Sugar” averaged a 0.6 in 18-49s, down a tenth from Tuesday’s debut.
And USA’s “Mr. Robot” remained steady to last week with a 0.3.
