“Transporter” actor Jason Statham is heading to TV. Statham is set to star in “Viva La Madness,” a 10-episode drama from Gaumont International Television and based on the book by J.J. Connolly. There’s no word yet on what network or video service the drama will air on.
BBC America has named Gina Mingacci vice president of development and current programming, based in the network’s Los Angeles office. Mingacci was previously head of scripted television at Superb Entertainment.
Dorothy Toran has joined branding and TV production company Monami Entertainment, becoming vice president of production. Toran has previously produced projects for Bravo, Discovery, TV One and MTV, among others.
Fox Sports has brought in Matt Ketaineck as a coordinating producer, working with “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.” Ketaineck joins from ESPN, where he was coordinating producer on “Olbermann.”
“Nashville” stars Connie Britton and Charles Esten will guest on AXS TV’s “The Big Interview: Nashville Special Edition,” sitting down for an interview with Dan Rather. The duo will appear on Sept. 22, ahead of the network’s rollout of syndicated episodes of ABC’s “Nashville.”
History has ordered 16 episodes of “Join or Die with Craig Ferguson,” in which the former “Late Late Show” host will debate various topics with a panel of guests. Ferguson will also serve as an executive producer on the show.
A+E Networks has revealed the cast for its upcoming miniseries “Roots,” including Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Anika Noni Rose, Chad L. Coleman, Erica Tazel and Derek Luke. They join previously announced cast member Laurence Fishburne, who will play “Roots” author Alex Haley in the four-night special.
Branding agency Interbrand has made two promotions, naming Andrea Sullivan chief marketing officer and Paola Norambuena chief content officer. Sullivan had been chief marketing officer for North America, while Norambuena was publisher of the agency’s BrandChannel.com.
Target Media has made a pair of additions, naming Adam Baldwin director of client services and Jen Mnick media supervisor. Baldwin joins from the Philadelphia radio station WOGL, while Mnick previously worked for a number of Philadelphia ad agencies.
Atlantic Media has moved Ashley Bolding, naming her director of event operations for its Government Executive Media Group. Bolding had been with AtlanticLIVE, The Atlantic’s events division.
Ian Priest has been named global chief executive officer at Grace Blue, an executive search firm for the advertising and media industries. Priest joins from Chime Communications, where he’d been since 2005.
