Longtime New York Daily News sportswriter Mike Lupica is leaving the paper, after he wasn’t able to agree to a new contract. The move coincides with a new round of layoffs at the paper, which include sports editor Teri Thompson. This after news that editor in chief Colin Myler would leave the paper at the end of the year, to be replaced by executive editor Jim Rich.
Brand experience agency Jack Morton Worldwide has named Bruce Henderson chief creative officer, based in the New York office beginning in January. Henderson was most recently chief creative officer for North America at Geometry Global.
INNOCEAN USA has named Frank Striefler senior vice president of strategic planning, working alongside chief executive Steve Jun and managing director Tim Blett. Striefler most recently freelanced for agencies including Ignited, Phenomenon, Zambezi and Wunderman West.
Zimmerman Advertising has made two additions, naming Nichole Robillard senior vice president and group account director and Nicole Gallardo digital creative director. Robillard was previously at RP3 Agency, while Gallardo joins from Norwegian Cruise Line.
Time Inc. has named Erik Moreno executive vice president of business development, a newly created position. Moreno joins from Fox Networks Group, where he was senior vice president of corporate development.
Cable network Up TV has named Timothy Kuryak senior vice president of unscripted development and production, a new position at the network. Kuryak was previously senior vice president of development at LionTV.
Online video technology company Outbrain has brought in Eric Hadley, naming him global head of marketing solutions. Hadley has previously held positions at Pinterest, The Weather Channel, Yahoo and Microsoft.
Ewan Darby has been named general manager of the EMEA region at CAKE, the software division of marketing technology company Accelerize. Darby had been senior partner of global affiliate marketing at Ogilvy New York.
Kirstie Alley will guest star in the upcoming Netflix comedy “Flaked,” which stars Will Arnett. Alley will play the mother of David Sullivan’s character.
Actress Maite Perroni will star in Univison’s upcoming telenovela “Antes Muerta Que Lichita,” which premieres next week. Perroni’s voice can also be heard in the current animated movie “Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos.”
Dave Coulier will guest on Fox’s “Grandfathered” this season, reuniting him with former “Full House” co-star John Stamos. Fellow former “Full House” star Bob Saget is also set to appear on “Grandfathered” this season.
