A+E Networks has promoted Amanda Hill to chief marketing officer, reporting to chief executive officer Nancy Dubuc. Hill was previously chief creative officer for the company’s international marketing, communications and programming division.
TV advertising technology company Viamedia has promoted Becky Jones, naming her chief marketing and people officer. Jones had been senior vice president of marketing and research.
CNN has brought in Melissa Bell as a Paris-based correspondent, beginning in early October. Bell was previously international affairs editor and correspondent at France 24.
NBC has added Alex Moffat and Melissa Villasenor to the cast of “Saturday Night Live” for the upcoming season, joining fellow newcomer Mikey Day. The 42nd season of “SNL” premieres on Oct. 1.

Chicago agency The Escape Pod has named Jared Creason creative director, effective immediately. Creason has previously held positions at Goodby Silverstein & Partners and Saatchi & Saatchi.
Digital
Digital video technology company IRIS.TV has made three hires, naming Kyle Raudensky software engineer and Max Dismore and Katherine Mille account executives. Raudensky will be based in Los Angeles, while Dismore and Mille will work out of New York.
George Kliavkoff has been named chief executive officer at Jaunt, a virtual reality company. Kliavkoff joins from Hearst Corp., where he was co-president of entertainment and syndication.
Newspapers
Daniel H. Cohen, a former senior vice president of advertising at The New York Times, died last week at age 64 following a battle with brain cancer. Under Cohen’s watch, The Times became the first publication to generate more than $1 billion in ad revenue in a single year. He left the paper in 1999 to begin a TV production company.
