Politico has promoted Carrie Budoff Brown to editor, replacing Susan Glasser following the presidential election. Brown has been with the site since 2007, most recently serving as managing editor in its European newsroom.
Y&R has made three additions in its New York office, naming Ryan Blum executive creative director, Catherine Patterson director of interactive and activation, and Eric Ackley digital experience director. Blum joins from Publicis Seattle, Patterson from McCann New York, and Ackley from Geometry Global.
Lucia Grillo, vice president and head of integrated production at 360i, is leaving her position next month to pursue another opportunity. Grillo joined the agency in January.
Fuse Media has named Marc Leonard senior vice president of content strategy, reporting to chief operating officer Mike Roggero. Leonard was previously senior vice president of platform strategy at Logo.
Discovery Channel has named Andrew O’Connell vice president of development and production, reporting to executive vice president Denise Contis. O’Connell was previously commissioning editor at ITV.
Turner has named Michael Marinello senior vice president of corporate communications, effective immediately. Marinello was most recently global head of communications, technology, brand and sustainability at Bloomberg.
Melissa Harris-Perry has been named a special correspondent at BET News, working on various programs across the network. Harris-Perry was previously at MSNBC.
TNT has added Harold Perrineau and Jenn Lyon to its pilot “Claws,” joining Niecy Nash in the cast. Perrineau previously appeared on “Constantine,” Lyon on “Saint George.”
Colin Cunningham has joined the cast of Syfy’s upcoming drama “Blood Drive,” which begins production next month. Cunningham previously appeared on TNT’s “Falling Skies.”
Entravision Communications has promoted Sheryl Personett to senior vice president of integrated marketing solutions, working with the Denver market. Personett had been vice president.
Actress and singer Ariana Grande has joined NBC’s upcoming special “Hairspray Live,” playing Penny Pingleton. Grande joins Martin Short, Derek Hough, Harvey Fierstein, Kristin Chenoweth and Jennifer Hudson in the cast.
