Zimmerman Advertising has named Mike Melone digital media director, working to create digital elements of clients’ media campaigns. Melone was previously at Purebred Digital Consulting, and before that he was digital and ecommerce group director at Starcom MediaVest Group.
Grey New York has named Darren Moran head of innovation, a newly created position at the agency. Moran was previously chief creative officer at Havas Worldwide in New York.
WHITE64, an agency based in Virginia, has named Alicia Gehring vice president of media strategy. Gehring was most recently media director at Kinsella Media in Washington, D.C.
Droga5 has promoted Colm Murphy and Harry Román-Torres, naming them co-heads of the strategy department. Both were previously group strategy directors.
Hearst Magazines has promoted Nick Matarazzo to president of Hearst Auto, a new group that includes Car and Driver and Road & Track magazines, Jumpstart Automotive Group and Veretech Holdings. Matarazzo had been chief executive officer for the Jumpstart arm.
Rodale has named Barbara O’Dair editor in chief at Prevention magazine, putting her in charge of the magazine’s transition to an ad-free title. O’Dair was previously executive editor at Reader’s Digest.
The Weather Co. has named Julie Michalowski vice president of corporate sales partnerships and development, reporting to global head of sales Jeremy Steinberg. Michalowski most recently worked as a strategy consultant, and before that she was senior vice president of digital business development at Condé Nast.
Production company Propagate has made three additions, naming Ivan Garel-Jones chief operating officer, Isabel San Vargas head of production and Linh Le head of new business ventures. Garel-Jones reports to co-chief executives Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens, while San Vargas and Le report to Garel-Jones.
Adam Dole has been named lead strategist at GoKart Labs, which helps brands create mobile apps. Dole was previously co-founder and vice president of strategy for Better, a healthcare startup.
Richard “Radio Rich” Bowers, a longtime radio personality in Topeka, Kansas, died this week at age 60 while away rehabilitating medical issues. Bowers teamed with Louann Fulmer for the “Radio Rich and Louann” show, which ran for 10 years on 94.5 Country and for six more on US103. In more recent years Bowers ran an online radio company.
