CBS has promoted Kurt Davis to executive vice president of affiliate relations, working closely with president of television networks distribution Ray Hopkins. Davis had been vice president of news services for CBS News, in charge of its satellite news gathering outfit CBS Newspath.
CBS’s “The Price is Right” will air three primetime specials during May, with each episode featuring fan favorites from the reality competitions “Survivor,” “Big Brother” and “The Amazing Race.” As a part of the stunt, hosts Jeff Probst, Julie Chen and Phil Keoghan will also make appearances on the game show.
Atlanta agency 22squared has named Al Patton executive vice president and executive creative director, reporting to chief creative officer John Stapleton. Patton joins from R/GA, where he was vice president and group executive creative director.
Diana Lochridge has joined the digital agency Definition 6, becoming an executive producer and creative director. Lochridge previously worked as a consultant and helped with the rebrand strategy of WE tv.
IBT Media has named Ken Li managing editor at Newsweek, putting him in charge of day-to-day operations for the print title and its website. Li was previously founding editor at Re/code.
Guy Vidra, chief executive officer at The New Republic, is leaving the title at the end of the month, just a week after editor in chief Gabriel Snyder exited. In a memo to staff, Vidra wrote that he would serve as an advisor at the magazine, writing, “I will continue in this capacity through the end of the month and will then make myself available to help as the magazine moves forward to a promising future under Hamilton Fish and Win McCormack.” McCormack bought the magazine in February and named Fish publisher.
John McCormick has been named vice president of East Coast sales at Zumobi, a mobile content marketing company. McCormick was most recently executive director of sales at The New Yorker.
Social video platform GlassView has brought in David Zuckerman, naming him an account director. Zuckerman was previously communications manager at Mount Sinai Health System.
WWE has named Jay Li vice president and general manager for China, based in Shanghai. Li had been China general manager at Skullcandy.
Elton Spitzer, a radio executive known for building the New York station WLIR-FM, died last week at age 84 of complications from Parkinson’s disease. Spitzer is known for transitioning the station from album rock to a new wave format in the early 1980s, which led to the U.S. radio premieres of many well-known artists, such as U2, Depeche Mode and Duran Duran.
