ESPN Deportes has promoted Freddy Rolón to vice president and general manager, reporting to executive vice president and managing director of ESPN International Russell Wolff. Rolón replaces Lino Garcia, the network’s founding general manager who left late last year as a part of a round of layoffs at ESPN. He had been vice president of programming and business initiatives.
From one FX show to another: Actress Annet Mehendru has joined the cast of FX’s “Tyrant,” playing the wife of a leader in a recurring role. Mehendru previously appeared on the network’s “The Americans.”
Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will guest on Comedy Central’s “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore” on Wednesday, his fourth appearance on the show. Sanders’ last appearance was on Jan. 5.
Saatchi & Saatchi has made two additions in its Los Angeles office, naming Fabio Costa executive creative director and Dwayne Koh digital executive creative director. Costa was previously at TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles, while Koh joins from AKQA San Francisco.
Publicis Worldwide has named Andy Clarke executive creative director in its New York office, working with the agency’s Cadillac account. Clarke was previously global executive creative director at Arnold Worldwide.
Sales and marketing company Gen Media Partners has named Jim Brandt senior vice president of digital, effective immediately. Brandt was previously senior vice president of publisher sales at Sprinkle.
Angela Ledgerwood has been named books editor at large at Cosmopolitan magazine, effective immediately. Ledgerwood also hosts the literary podcast “Lit Up.”
Darren D. Dickerson has been named president at BlackTree TV, which produces YouTube content. He previously ran his own public relations firm, DSD Publicity Consulting.
Doug Banks, a Chicago radio host whose show was nationally syndicated, died on Monday at age 57 of complications from diabetes. Banks started working in radio while he was in high school, holding jobs in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco before settling in Chicago in the ’80s.
