Tribune Publishing, the business to be spun off from Tribune Co. later this year, has named Jack Griffin chief executive officer, putting him in charge of the company’s eight newspapers.  Griffin, who begins on April 14, has previously served as an advisor to Tribune through his company Empirical Media. In addition, Tribune Publishing has named Los Angeles Times publisher Eddy Hartenstein chairman.

Tampa-based ad agency Ad Partners has named Heather Sandford digital media manager, which includes digital media planning and buying. Sandford was previously director of media buying at Pyper Paul + Kenney.

Martin Mohr has been named creative director at TBWA\Chiat\Day, working in the agency’s New York office. Mohr had been executive creative director at TBWA\Helsinki.

Fox Deportes has named Carlos Sanchez executive vice president and general manager, reporting to president of Fox Sports Regional Networks Jeff Krolik. Sanchez was most recently president and general manager at the New York Telemundo station WNJU-TV.

Former “Dancing with the Stars” co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet is set to guest on ABC Family’s “Melissa & Joey,” appearing in two episodes. Burke-Charvet will appear in June as an ex of Joey Lawrence’s character.

Actor Gabriel Luna has signed with El Rey Network to star in “Matador,” an upcoming original action drama. Luna has most recently made appearances on “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “Touch.”

Matthew Galkin has been promoted to partner at Warrior Poets, a production company founded by filmmaker Morgan Spurlock. Galkin previously produced a number of TV shows and movies for the company, including the ESPN documentary “The Dotted Line.”

Nielsen has made four additions, naming Greg Daniel chief digital marketing officer, Laura Nelson chief communications officer, Saul Rosenberg chief content officer and Marcy Shinder chief marketing officer. Daniel joins from American Express Interactive, Nelson from VH1, Rosenberg from McKinsey & Company and Shinder from American Express.

Online advertising technology company Adara Global has made two hires, naming, Liz Coddington chief financial officer and Melissa Stein vice president of product. Coddington joins from Walmart.com, Stein from AdMobius.

Daily news site Colorlines has brought in Akiba Solomon editorial director, taking over for Kai Wright, becomes editor at large. Solomon has previously written for a number of publications, including Redbook, Ebony.com, Glamour and Essence.

Telemundo has added Carlos Hermosillo to its team of sportscasters, making his first appearance on the show “Titulares y Más” on March 12. Hermosillo is a former soccer player who played in Mexico, the U.S. and Europe, as well as for the Mexican national team.
