Actress Taraji P. Henson has signed up for Fox’s drama pilot “Empire,” joining Terrence Howard in the cast. Henson, who starred with Howard in the movie “Hustle & Flow,” most recently appeared in CBS’s “Person of Interest.”
Telemundo has named Michael Guariglia vice president of network sales, working with the Northeast region. Guariglia was previously an account executive at Univision.
PBS has named Domenico Montanaro political editor and senior producer for “PBS NewsHour,” beginning on March 17. Montanaro will join from NBC, where he is deputy political editor.
Boston agency Fuseideas has brought in Tracie Manna Chinetti as associate broadcast director, beginning on March 3. Chinetti previously held a similar position at Blitz Media, which recently closed.
Tom Johnstone has been named group strategy director at 72andSunny, working in Los Angeles on the agency’s Samsung account. Johnstone was most recently at AMV BBDO in the UK.
Ad agency The Woo has made four hires, naming Doug Finelli vice president and group creative director, Jeff Heath creative director, Mike Rose media director, and Scott Hieatt director of interactive. Finelli joins from RR Partners, Heath from Ogilvy, Rose from OMD and Hieatt from Serge Media.
Tim Krubsack, vice president of alternative programming at Syfy, is leaving the network. He did not say what he’ll do next. Krubsack worked on shows including “Face Off” and “Opposite Worlds” at Syfy.
Cable network beIN SPORTS has brought in Christian Vieri as one of its lead soccer commentators, and he will also be a contributor on the Monday night show “The Locker Room.” Vieri played for a number of European clubs during his career, as well as for the Italian national team.
Former CNN personality Larry King is returning to TV, although on a more local basis. King is set to host “Larry King at Bat” on SportsNet LA, Time Warner Cable’s regional sports network. The show will feature interviews with current and former baseball players and experts, mostly related to his beloved L.A. Dodgers.
Modern Luxury has made two additions, naming Marcy Bloom senior vice president and group publisher and Michael Wolfe publisher for national sales. Bloom is a former vice president and publisher at Lucky, while Wolfe was most recently publisher at The Week and Mental Floss.
The Interactive Advertising Bureau has promoted Mike Zaneis, naming him executive vice president and general counsel. Zaneis, who joined the IAB in 2007, had been senior vice president.
