Harold Ramis, the actor who appeared in a number of movies including “Ghostbusters” and “Groundhog Day,” died on Monday of complications from autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis at age 69. Earlier in his career Ramis appeared on the sketch comedy TV series “SCTV,” and he worked as the show’s first head writer. Celebrities immediately began to grieve on Ramis’ death on social media, such as this tweet from actor and comedian Patton Oswalt: “If a Twinkie represents amount of grief I feel when someone dies, Harold Ramis’ death would be a Twinkie 35 feet long weighing 600 pounds.”

It didn’t take ABC long to find a replacement for ousted “Dancing with the Stars” co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet. The network has named Erin Andrews co-host of the reality competition alongside Tom Bergeron, in addition to her duties as a sports correspondent for Fox. Andrews made it to the finals of “Stars” during the show’s 10th season.

NBC has added Tamron Hall to the 9 a.m. hour of “Today,” joining Al Roker, Natalie Morales and Willie Geist. Hall has previously served as a fill-in host on the show, and she also anchors MSNBC’s “NewsNation.”

Former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Molly Shannon has joined ABC’s comedy pilot “Bambi Cottages,” about a family who runs a group of cottages for tourists. Shannon most recently guested on Fox’s “Raising Hope.”

Bill Thomas, former editor at The Los Angeles Times, died over the weekend at age 89 after suffering from congestive heart failure. As the Times’ metro editor, Thomas led the paper’s Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage of the Watts riots in 1965 and L.A. city government corruption in 1968. He rose to editor of the paper in 1972, stepping down in 1989.

Connecticut agency Mintz + Hoke has promoted Sara-Beth Donovan, naming her senior vice president of media. Donovan had been vice president of media.

Clear Channel Media and Entertainment has promoted Clay Hunnicutt to executive vice president and general manager for national programming platforms, effective immediately. Hunnicutt had been executive vice president of programming for the company’s largest markets.

Travel Channel has promoted Ross Babbit to senior vice president of programming and development, taking over for the outgoing Andy Singer. Babbit joined the network in 2012 from DIY Network.

Bravo and Oxygen Media have made three promotions, naming Leslie Greene vice president of primary research, Dara Levine vice president of programming and digital research, and David Kaplan vice president of ad sales research. All three will report to senior vice president of research Michael Haggerty.

Actor Samuel Anderson has joined the cast of BBC America’s “Doctor Who,” playing a schoolteacher in a recurring role. Anderson has previously appeared on a number of British series, including “Gavin & Stacey” and “Emmerdale.”

Kevin McCabe has been named vice president of business development at iSocket, a programmatic direct and sales automation company. McCabe was most recently director of ad exchange product management at Microsoft.

Mobile advertising technology company Single Touch has made two hires, naming Adam Meshekow head of national retail sales and bringing in Peter Smith to handle business development. Meshekow was previously mobile brand marketing manager at Toys ‘R’ Us, and Smith was vice president and general manager at Titan 360.
