Marty Plissner, longtime political director at CBS News, died last week at age 87 after battling lung cancer. Plissner covered every presidential election for CBS from 1964 to 1996, and during that time he became known as a pioneer of exit polling. Early in his career Plissner worked for ABC News and NBC News, as well as a handful of radio stations, and CBS recruited him following his radio coverage of President Kennedy’s assassination in 1963. He retired in 1997.
Matthew Robinson has been named senior vice president of international television at Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution, based in the company’s Los Angeles office. Robinson was most recently vice president of international sales planning at Warner Bros. International Television.
Havas Media North America has named Debi Kleiman executive vice president and managing director, in charge of the agency’s Boston office. Kleiman joins from the Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange, where she was president.
GroupM media agency Maxus North America has named Lori Greene content director, a newly created position. Greene most recently worked as a senior-level consultant for Time Inc. Content Solutions and Columbia University, among others.
Rattakorn Potharam has been named general manager and executive creative director at MRM, McCann Worldgroup’s digital marketing agency in Thailand. Potharam was most recently design director at Dictionary.com.
Rapp has named Rik Haslam senior vice president and executive creative director, working in the agency’s New York office. Haslam was previously chief creative officer in Rapp’s UK office.
The Economist Group has brought in Shane Naughton, naming him chief financial officer. Naughton was previously chief financial officer at EMI Music, and he has also previously worked at UBM, Sky, Dell Computers and Coca-Cola.
Meredith Corp. has named Suzanne Rust lifestyle editor at Family Circle, a new editorial position at the magazine. Rust had been working as a freelance writer and editor for Essence, WomenAndCo.com and TheGrio.com.
A&E has named Shelly Tatro senior vice president of development and programming, based in the network’s New York office. Tatro joins from VH1, where she was senior vice president of East Coast production and development.
Veria Living has named Douglas Jost director of content distribution and marketing, reporting to senior vice president Tim Boell. Jost previously worked at Bright Educational Media, which he co-founded.
CNN has brought in Michael Smerconish to host a new weekly Saturday morning show, beginning later this month. Smerconish was previously at MSNBC, and he also hosts a SiriusXM radio show and writes a weekly column for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Actress Debi Mazar has joined the cast of TV Land’s “Younger,” a comedy pilot from “Sex and the City” creator Darren Star. The project starts Sutton Foster as a 40-year-old single mother who tries to enter the workforce by claiming she’s 26.
Entercom has named Tim Meagher general sales manager, working with the company’s four radio stations in Norfolk, Va. Meagher joins from Cumulus, where he was also a general sales manager.
Redbox has named Mark Horak president, officially taking over on March 17. Horak is a former president at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
