Former “Monk” star Tony Shalhoub has joined the cast of CBS’s upcoming summer series “BrainDead,” where he will play a Republican senator. The show, from “The Good Wife” creators Robert and Michelle King,” is a comic-thriller set in the world of D.C. politics.
Former “Friends” actor Matt LeBlanc has taken on a non-acting TV role, becoming co-host of BBC’s long-running auto series “Top Gear.” The “Episodes” actor joins British TV and radio personality Chris Evans.
Singer Seal has joined the cast of Fox’s upcoming live special “The Passion,” playing the role of Pontius Pilot. This will be the singer’s first TV acting role.
Arnold Worldwide has named Ed Castillo global chief strategy officer, working alongside global chief creative officer Jim Elliot. Castillo joins from TBWA\Chiat\Day New York, where he was also chief strategy officer.
Multicultural agency the community has named Juan Cruz Vassallo associate creative director, based in the agency’s Miami office. Vassallo previously held similar positions at Conill Saatchi & Saatchi and LatinWorks.
Robert Cappuccino has been named vice president of national sales at Foundations Marketing Group, an agency that works with the wine and spirits industry. Cappuccino is a former national sales manager at Zonin USA.
FCB West has added Simon White as chief strategy officer, after he previously served in a similar position at FCB Inferno in London. Before joining FCB White was at Grey London.
Lynn Eastep has been named president at Fathom, which offers a number of services, including SEO and social media marketing. She is a former senior vice president and partner at Fleishman-Hillard.
The American Society of Magazine Editors, or ASME, has named James Bennet president, taking over for the outgoing Mark Jannot. Bennet is editor in chief and president at The Atlantic.
Cardinal Path, a digital data firm, has brought in Andrew Edwards as director of digital intelligence. Edwards was previously managing director at Efectyv Digital, and he also writes a column for ClickZ.
Marc Ferrentino has been named executive vice president of strategy at Yext, which helps brands manage location data across websites and mobile apps. Ferrentino was previously chief technical architect at Salesforce.
Actress Isabella Rossellini has joined the cast of Hulu’s “Shut Eye,” about a crime syndicate the runs the world of storefront psychics in Los Angeles. Rossellini’s most recent TV appearance was on NBC’s “The Blacklist.”
FX has added Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza and Jean Smart to its pilot “Legion,” which begins production in March. The project is yet another drama based on a Marvel comic, this one set in the “X-Men” universe.
