NBC tops Tuesday for the seventh straight week
Averages a 1.8, 20 percent ahead of No. 2 CBS, with 'This Is Us' leading
February 15, 2017
Another Tuesday night, another victory for NBC.
The network won its seventh straight Tuesday, once again on the strength of first-year hit “This Is Us,” which finished as the night’s top-rated program, as usual.
NBC averaged a 1.8 on the night, according to Nielsen overnights, 20 percent ahead of second-place CBS, which posted a 1.5.
“Us” averaged a 2.4, down 8 percent from last week’s 2.6 final rating (it posted a 2.5 last week in overnights). The night’s No. 2 show was “NCIS,” which drew a 1.8 (up a tenth from last week).
The decline for “Us” could have reflected the Valentine’s Day holiday. A handful of young-skewing shows, also including ABC’s “American Housewife” and “Fresh Off the Boat,” slid versus last week, as some people may have been out celebrating heart day.
NBC’s No. 2 show for the night, “Chicago Fire,” posted a 1.5, even with last week.
Elsewhere Tuesday night, Fox’s “The Mick” grew a tenth from last week, to a 1.0, finishing as the network’s top show on a night where it has struggled.
And CBS’s “NCIS: New Orleans” was up two tenths from last week, to a 1.2.
Meanwhile, in late night, CBS’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” finished well ahead of NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in households, with a 2.8 to the latter’s 2.2.
Fallon won in 18-49s, though, with a 0.7 to a 0.6.
“The Late Late Show with James Corden,” which does not usually win its hour, took first for the second straight night in households, with a 1.3 to “Late Night with Seth Meyers’” 1.1 on NBC. The shows tied in 18-49s with a 0.3 apiece.
