‘Meet the Press’ starts strong in November
November 8, 2015
With political season already heating up ahead of next year’s presidential election, NBC’s “Meet the Press” is getting hot at the right time.
The Sunday morning new show averaged 3.35 million total viewers on Nov. 1, according to Nielsen, up 23 percent from the same Sunday a year ago and beating ABC’s “This Week” for the 15th straight week.
“This Week” was second in total viewers at 2.93 million, with CBS’s “Face the Nation” third at 2.67 million. “Fox News Sunday” was preempted due to NFL football coverage.
Further, “Meet the Press” averaged 919,000 viewers in the news demo adults 25-54, versus 772,000 for ABC and 556,000 for CBS.
In fact, it was NBC’s largest lead in the demo over CBS in more than two years, since January 2013.
The Chuck Todd-hosted show was also No. that day in Washington, D.C., averaging 86,000 viewers. CBS was second at 60,000 and ABC third at 22,000.
