Fall’s most upscale network: ABC
It's ahead among households making $100K and $200K
November 7, 2015
Falls are hard for ABC.
The network is the only one of the Big Four that doesn’t carry a major sport such as the NFL or Major League Baseball in primetime, and so ABC has no chance for competing for No. 1 in adults 18-49 each week.
But take out sports and there’s one area where the network clearly shines: Among upscale viewers.
In households making $100,000 or more annual, ABC is averaging a 2.95 rating, compared to a 2.6 for NBC and a 2.32 for CBS. Fox is well behind with a 1.84.
Among households making $200,000 or more, ABC also leads, with a 2.76 rating, to NBC’s 2.42. CBS is third with a 2.04 and Fox fourth with a 1.61.
ABC’s lead is fueled by “Modern Family,” which is second in $100K+ households and first in $200K+ households.
In the “very rich” category, ABC has seven of the top 12 entertainment programs.
NBC has four of the top 10, including the top-ranked new program, “Blindspot,” which ranks seventh overall with $200K households.
CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory” ranks first in $100K households and second in $200K households.
Fox’s “Empire,” the No. 1 scripted series on TV overall, is the network’s only program in the top 20 in $100K+, ranking 12th. “Empire” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” both rank in the top 20 for $200K+.
