‘Face the Nation’ wins second quarter viewers

CBS’s “Face the Nation” won the Sunday morning news race among total viewers in the second quarter, while NBC’s “Meet the Press” finished first in the news demo, adults 25-54.
“Face the Nation” averaged 3.58 million total viewers in second quarter, according to Nielsen, edging out the 3.47 million viewers averaged by “Meet the Press.” For “MTP” it was the most-watched second quarter in eight years.
ABC’s “This Week” was third during the quarter with 3.12 million, followed by “Fox News Sunday” at 1.48 million.
Meanwhile, NBC led the quarter among 25-54s with 1.04 million, followed by ABC at 885,000, CBS at 872,000 and Fox at 435,000. “MTP” held its largest quarterly lead over CBS in nearly five years, as well as its largest over ABC in more than three years.
During the week ended June 26, “Meet the Press” averaged 3.28 million total viewers and 1.02 million 25-54s, No. 1 for the week by both measures. “Face the Nation” was No. 2 for the week among total viewers at 3.21 million, “This Week” third at 3.06 million and “Fox News Sunday” fourth at 1.41 million.
Among 25-54s, ABC was second with 889,000 viewers, with CBS third at 796,000 and Fox fourth at 385,000.
