Network claims three of the night's top six shows in 18-49s
February 17, 2017
Thursday night on broadcast played out like many have so far in 2017. CBS claimed the night’s top show, while ABC’s steadier drama lineup led it to first place among viewers 18-49.
Indeed, CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory” was once again Thursday night’s top show among 18-49s with a 2.7 rating in the demo, according to Nielsen overnights. That was down 11 percent from a 3.0 last week.
But ABC had three of the night’s top six shows in the demo: “Grey’s Anatomy” (2.0 rating), “Scandal” (1.7) and “How to Get Away With Murder” (1.3). That helped the network to a 1.7 rating and 6 share for the night in the demo, placing it first place.
CBS was second for the night at 1.4/5, followed by NBC at 1.0/4. NBC was paced by its drama “Chicago Med,” which jumped 8 percent from last week to a 1.2 rating.
Fox finished fourth at 0.9/3, down 18 percent from last week. Both of its reality cooking shows saw declines-“MasterChef Junior” was down 15 percent to a 1.1, while “My Kitchen Rules” fell 22 percent to a 0.7.
Univision and Telemundo tied for fifth, each with a 0.7 rating and a 2 share. And CW was seventh for the night at 0.5/2. CW was led by a 0.7 rating for “Supernatural,” up 17 percent from last week and its best rating since November.
