Big numbers for Olympic gymnastics trials
NBC posts a 2.4 in 18-49s for competition used to choose the team

The women’s gymnastics Olympic trials proved a big draw for NBC, as usual.
The two-and-a-half-hour event averaged a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating Sunday night, according to Nielsen overnights, easily the top-rated program of the evening on broadcast.
In fact, it finished 50 percent ahead of the No. 2 program, CBS’s “Big Brother,” which drew a 1.6 at 8 p.m.
The team trials mark the culmination of a weeks-long qualifying process for the women, which also included last month’s national championships.
The Olympic committee chose five gymnasts, including reigning world champion Simone Biles and 2012 Olympic all-around champion Gabby Douglas, to represent the United States.
Meanwhile, elsewhere on broadcast Sunday night, CBS’s “Big Brother” finished as the night’s No. 2 show in the demo with a 1.6.
ABC’s lineup of game shows posted solid numbers, seeing gains over last Sunday’s ratings, which were negatively impacted by the holiday weekend.
“Celebrity Family Feud” (1.1 last week) and “$100,000 Pyramid” (1.2 last week) both drew a 1.5. At 10 p.m., “Match Game” grew a tenth from last week, to a 1.2.
