Battle of undefeateds lifts ‘SNF’
Broncos' win over the Packers averages 14.3 household rating
November 2, 2015
The much-hyped meeting of undefeateds on “Sunday Night Football” didn’t result in much of a game—the now-7-0 Denver Broncos cruised to a 29-10 victory over the now-6-1 Green Bay Packers.
But it did give NBC a nice ratings jolt.
The “SNF” game averaged a 14.3 metered-market household rating from 8:30 p.m. to 11:15 p.m., according to Nielsen, up 25 percent from last year’s comparable game.
In fact, it was the highest-rated “SNF” ever airing directly against a World Series game.
In the first nine contests of the season, “SNF” has bettered a 13.0 every week in the metered markets, for the first time ever.
It was a night of heavy sports competition on broadcast, with Fox airing the fifth—and, as it turned out, final—game of the World Series.
Ratings for that game, won 7-2 in extra innings by the Kansas City Royals, will be out later today.
Against all the sports, not to mention AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” scripted broadcast shows declined Sunday night. ABC’s three dramas were all off, including a 20 percent week-to-week drop for 10 p.m. new drama “Quantico,” which fell to a series-low 1.2 adults 18-49 overnight rating.
ABC’s “Once Upon a Time” was the night’s top scripted show with a 1.5, though that was off a tenth from last week.
CBS’s “Madam Secretary” (1.1) and “The Good Wife” (0.9) slid 15 percent and 18 percent, respectively, though 10 p.m. drama “CSI: Cyber” was flat with a 0.8.
