ABC’s ‘GMA’ shows year-to-year growth

ABC’s “Good Morning America” continues to lead among morning news shows, and it also continues to grow.
“GMA” was No. 1 during the week ended Jan. 19 with 5.72 million total viewers, according to Nielsen, its 74th straight week on top. The show also averaged 2.31 million viewers 25-54, No. 1 for the 16th time in the past 17 weeks.
Year-to-year “GMA” is up 9 percent among total viewers and 17 percent among 25-54s.
Meanwhile, NBC’s “Today” was No. 2 for the week with 5.05 million total viewers and 2.15 million 25-54s, with “CBS This Morning” third with 3.01 million viewers and 1.06 million 25-54s.

In evening network news for the week ended Jan. 19, NBC’s “Nightly News with Brian Williams” was first with 9.4 million total viewers and a 1.9 rating among adults 25-54. ABC’s “World News with Diane Sawyer” averaged 8.47 million viewers and a 1.8 rating, followed by CBS’s “Evening News with Scott Pelley” with 7.49 million and a 1.5 rating.
ABC’s “This Week” was the most-watched Sunday morning show on Jan. 19 with 3.02 million tuning in. NBC’s “Meet the Press” was second with 2.84 million, CBS’s “Face the Nation” third at 2.13 million viewers and “Fox News Sunday” fourth at 1.29 million.
In late night during the week ended Jan. 19, NBC’s “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” averaged 4.0 million total viewers, with CBS’s “The Late Show with David Letterman” at 2.9 million and ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” at 2.5 million. In late late night, NBC’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” averaged 2.1 million total viewers, with ABC’s “Nightline” at 1.5 million, CBS’s “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” at 1.4 million and NBC’s “Last Call with Carson Daly” at 0.9 million. Among 18-49s, “Tonight” averaged a 0.9 rating, with “Late Night” at a 0.7, “Kimmel” and “Late Show” at a 0.6, “Late Late Show” and “Nightline” at a 0.4 and “Last Call” at a 0.3. Friday’s “Last Call” and “Kimmel” were reruns.
