ABC shows perform well among DVR viewers
April 25, 2016
If ABC is ever forced to change its call letters, it might want to consider changing them to “DVR.”
ABC claimed eight of the top 15 most-DVR’d shows among viewers 18-49 during the week ended April 10, led by “Modern Family,” which added 1.8 ratings points in the demo through seven-day DVR playback.
That was the third-most growth of the week, behind Fox’s “Empire” (2.0) and CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory” (1.9).
ABC’s other shows to make the top 15 in growth were “Grey’s Anatomy” (up 1.5), “Scandal” (up 1.3), “Quantico” (up 1.1), “black-ish,” “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” (each up 1.0), “The Goldbergs” and “Castle” (each up 0.9).
‘Big Bang’ tops growth in total viewers
Meanwhile, “Big Bang Theory” had the most DVR growth of the week among total viewers, adding 5.28 million through seven-day playback for an L+7 total of 18.79 million.
“Big Bang” was the only show during the week to add at least 5 million viewers through DVR playback.
NBC’s “The Blacklist” was No. 2 for the week in growth among total viewers, adding 4.63 million, with “Empire” (4.40 million), “Modern Family” (4.22 million) and CBS’s “Blue Bloods” (4.21 million) rounding out the top five.
